ABOUT MILE SQUARE THEATRE
Mile Square Theatre was founded by Chris O’Connor in 2003 as a non-profit professional theatre. Our mission is to enrich and engage the region through the production of professional theatre and innovative arts education.
MST produces professional theatre year round, including shows for young audiences and our annual festival of plays about baseball, 7th Inning Stretch. The MST Dance Academy provides pre-professional dance training in ballet, contemporary, tap, theatre dance, flamenco and hip hop; classes run on an academic-year schedule. MST Education provides workshops in acting and improvisation for all ages in spring and fall; offerings are designed to help students of all ages develop skills and technique.
ABOUT THE 24 HOUR PLAYS
Created in 1995, The 24 Hour Plays are a New York City-based organization bringing together artists to produce plays and musicals written, rehearsed and performed in 24 hours. Through our radically-present approach to theater, our work responds immediately to the world around us, builds strong, enduring creative communities and generates new artistic partnerships that extend throughout the arts and entertainment industry. Regular events include The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway and The 24 Hour Musicals, productions in Los Angeles, Dublin, London, Minneapolis, Little Rock, Savannah, Finland, Mexico City and more. Each summer, early-career actors, directors, playwrights, producers and composers come together for The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals, a free professional intensive that culminates in their own production of The 24 Hour Plays and introduces audience and collaborators to new voices who change the game in theater, TV and film.
Does it really all happen in 24 hours?
Yes! New plays are written, rehearsed, memorized (no scripts in hand!), and performed in just 24 hours.
Is the show 24 hours long?
No! Our full process is 24 hours long, but The 24 Hour Plays generally runs about two hours with a fifteen minute intermission.
When is the next production?
The 24 Hour Plays: Philadelphia will take place on December 4, 2023.
