The 24 Hour Plays news and updates

Dear Friends —
I’m writing with an important and urgent ask: The 24 Hour Plays are in critical need of support as we navigate challenging times and we’ve launched a $75,000 fundraising campaign to enable us to continue our work, including our ability to produce The 24 Hour Plays fall flagship event (for a 25th consecutive year), The 24 Hour Plays Nationals and our many educational and community partnership events.
We are making this ask now because:
- Our largest foundation supporter has revised its funding focus.
- As nonprofits across the country are all seeing, there has been a steep decline in foundation, corporate and individual giving capacity.
- For an organization of our size, these changes have had a disproportionately significant impact and have put us in a critical position. This is not a situation we’ve faced before, since we have rarely run even a small deficit.
It’s not for lack of interest: Audiences have continued to pack our events and a record-breaking number of artists applied to be part of The 24 Hour Plays Nationals, our free professional development intensive. But in order to run these initiatives, we need your help. Over the next three weeks, I hope to share many stories about the impact this organization has had on legions of people. We create community, on and offstage, for people who really need community.
Thank you for your support, always, but especially in this effort to save The 24 Hour Plays during a difficult stretch. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you’d like to learn about more ways you can help.
Much love,
Mark
