Five years ago, in March 2020, we produced a remote event we called The 24 Hour Plays: Viral Monologues. Intended as a one-time only production, this new version of The 24 Hour Plays instead continued throughout lockdown and went on to bring together over a thousand artists to make new work during an enormously challenging time.
On March 31, we decided to commemorate this anniversary with a new, secret show, hosted by Viral Monologues regular Hugh Dancy, featuring new monologues both filmed and live, created within just 24 hours.
This week, we’re sharing those monologues and excerpts from Monday’s show on on social media, just like our very first round five years ago. Follow us @24hourplays on Instagram and Youtube for new monologue drops every day this week, and tag us in your favorite memories of The 24 Hour Plays Viral Monologues as we celebrate the impact this series made on artists and audiences all around the world.
